The Youth Project

The Donnycarney Youth Project is funded through CDYSB (City of Dublin Youth Service Board) and it employs three full time Community Youth Workers to work with young people in Donnycarney between the ages of 10 and 21 years.

Donnycarney Youth Project is a limited company. A voluntary committee of local people manages the project. The membership of the committee consist of reflect the composition of the local community. An officer of the committee manages the finances. Quartley reports are prepared by the project auditor and submitted to the CDYSB. The project accounts are professionally audited on an annual basis.

The project submits it`s Report on Management Practice, Management Plan, Report on Youth Work Programme and Youth Work Plan to CDYSB annually.

The mission statement of the project is to provide young people of Donnycarney with the opportunity to develop their mental, physical and spiritual needs, with particular focus on work with teenagers. Programmes are planned in consultation with the young people and endevour to expose the young people to new learning experiences which will develop individual talents, abilities, creativity and personal development in a fun environment.

* Community Development with Young People

Engaging with individuals and groups enables the project to identify both individual and group needs while building meaningful relational ships with young people involved with our project. From the initial work we design programmes appropriate to the needs already identified. Young people have a direct input into the content and into the ongoing evaluation of their programmes.

Programmes and Activities of Donnycarney Youth Project:

Sports: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Pool, Badminton, Tennis

Arts: Murals, Stained glass, beaded jewellery, Crafts, fabric painting, clay modeling, mosaic, making comics

Activities: Computer games, Playstation, Group Games, Team Building

Music: Singing, Guitar, Percussion, Karaoke, Media

Specialist Programmes: Teenage health, Alcohol/Drugs Awareness, Drama, Video Making, Song Writing, Photography, Sailing, Sexual Health, FETAC

Lets have fun club Monday night Youth Club :
The Lets have fun club caters for 7 - 11 year old boys and girls and the Monday Night Youth Club caters for 11 - 14 year old boys and girls. And both are run by local volunteers. We are always looking for Volunteers.
